About Me

I was born in Dera Ismail Khan in 1974. The D. I. Khan (Urdu, Saraiki: ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان, Pashto: ډېره اسماعيل خان‎) is a city in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. It is situated on the west bank of the Indus River, 200 miles (320 km) west of Lahore and 120 miles (190 km) northwest of Multan. The city is the capital of the district and tehsil of the same name.

I did Bachelors in Computer Science and Physics from Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan in 1996.

Then I completed Masters in Electronics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan in January, 1999. I have been teaching for more than eight years in different Universities of Pakistan; like, International Islamic University, COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad, Hamdard University, Qurtuba University of Science and Information Technology, etc.

Under the supervision of Prof. Karim Djouani, I completed Ph.D. from the University of Paris-Est, France in 2010 with the thesis entitled, Analysis and Design of Routing Link Metrics for Quality Routing in Wireless Multi-hop Networks.

Recently, I am working as Associate Professor, and founding head of the ComSens (Communications over Sensors) Research Group at the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad, 44000, Pakistan. I am HEC Approved Supervisor (for MS and PhD) in the fields of Engineering and Computer Science by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

I have supervised 16 Ph.D. and 112 master's theses. I have authored over 850 articles in technical journals and international conferences. Also I am an Associate Editor of the IEEE ACCESS Journal and an Editor of the International Journal of Space Based and Situated Computing. My research interests include, Ad-hoc, Vehicular, Body Area, Under Water Sensor Networks, Renewable & Sustainable Energy, Energy Management, Cloud and Fog Computing, Data Science, Blockchain, etc.

I am founding Director of ComSens (Communications over Sensors) Research Lab established in 2011. Until now 112 have graduated and 16 have postgraduate and about 170 impact factor papers have been published under the ComSens research lab. The main research's areas of ComSens lab are given below.

  • Ad-hoc network.

  • Body sensor network.

  • Under water wireless sensor network.

  • Energy management and optimization in smart gird and microgrid.

  • Smart grid and microgrid management using Cloud and Fog services.

  • Blockchain for vehicular network, smart grid, IoT devices, wireless sensor network.

  • Data analytics using machine learning techniques for electricity load and price forecasting.
